LOCATION: Ghana, West Africa
ART: Patchwork clothing & bags
INSPIRATION: I learned
this work from my grandfathers, is a family work, I start watching this when I was a child. I can say that I grow up inside
this work. Instead of Patch, they call it Bolfa, Why they call it by that name? Simple because, Bolfa is a religion, in a
part of Ashanti. They gave their religion name to that wear, that means, in those days if you saw someone wearing that that
show is from Bolfa religion. They was a greater warriors those days. They wear the Bolfa or the Patchies every where they’re
going. Why they use that? They use that because of the poverty, they don’t have money to buy a full cloths to makes
their dresses and they use to collect a pieces of cloths around to make their dresses. Paa Kwesi likes doing this much, he
like this from his heart.
