Handmade Clay Flowers

"These beautiful, long-lasting, extremely natural looking flowers are actually made out of synthetic clay. This clay does not need to be cured or heated, but air dries in approximately 2 to 3 hours. The process of making the clay flowers is fun and enables the artist to be creative while trying to reproduce something in nature. These clay flowers are often mistaken for real ones. The clays is easy to work with, requiring dexterity and a comfort level achieved after a lot of practice. The actual color of the clay is white and by using oil paints you can create any color you wish. The creation of the flowers is done by flattening the clay very thin. The petals, pistils and leaves are then cut out of the clay. Delails are added with small tools, resin molds and shaping by hand. Details are painted on to the colored play parts of the flower once they are dry. Wire supports are glued onto the various parts befor the drying process begins. The plants are placed in pots or drifwood and give you the effect of natural elegance without the look of plastic. They are easy to clean with a small, soft brush to remove any dust. The wonderful thing about these clay flowers is that they can be customized to suit the customer's interest in color, size and shape."
